The original Masjid-e-Hamza is an Islamic legacy steeped in history. It is one of Goa’s oldest mosques that serves a multitude of devotees living and working in the state of Goa. The Dargah was established in the year 1197 by the travellers who settled in Goa, inspiring stories of the development of Masjid-e-Hamza to its present form, continue to live in the memory of Muslims. The old masjid was built in the 1988 in a small temporary shade on the hill-top in Alto-Betim, overlooking the beautiful and picturesque view of Arabian Sea, for the growing community in North Goa. The construction of the new masjid started in 2008. The Urus is celebrated since last 248 years.
